The department of Education at the Jerusalem Cinematheque initiates and organizes a wide range of special programs for audiences of all ages, students, adult education, seniors, and special education.
The programs are divided into several sections: the art of cinema, social issues seen through film, enrichment of educational programs through film, Israeli film, Judaism and cinema, and many others.
Each section opens with various subjects, which are selected with the school's teachers or representative. The structure and length of the programs change, and can alter from a hour long lecture and a screening (of one full length film of a collection of short films), to lengthier programs which last for several hours or even a whole day.
